INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD 2017 - 2020
We are very proud that, once again, in July 2017 Old Basford School was re-accredited with the International Schools Award until 2020.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions, we have not at present been able to put together evidence to reapply for the award.
The award is an internationally recognised accreditation, awarded to schools which forge links with partners overseas and add an international dimension to the curriculum. Through working on joint projects and adding international elements to lessons, pupils and teachers at Old Basford School are given a fresh perspective on the world and their place in it.
Our link with Virgen de Los Remedios in Madrid
We have a link school in Madrid called Virgen de los Remedios. Children at both schools have exchanged letters, pieces of work and cards. Back in 2016/2017 we were fortunate enough to be able to take a small group of children to visit the school. We are hoping that the Spanish school will be able to visit us in the future.
These children were our gifted and talented Spanish pupils. The children had the opportunity to learn about Spanish culture, speak the local language and meet their pen pals while taking part in lessons at the school. This was an invaluable and inspiring experience, not only for the children who went on the trip, but also for the rest of the children in our school. On our return, the children presented an assembly to the rest of the school and their parents about their time in Madrid and what they had learnt. We were very proud of them and they were great ambassadors for the school. We continue to build upon this relationship year after year.
