Monday 29th June

Literacy Activity

 

Have a look at this picture called ‘Fall’ and have a go at answering the questions below. (Credit: Jungho Le) 

 

  1. Who is the old lady?
  2. What is she doing?
  3. What is the shadow? Why isn’t it the same silhouette as her?
  4. How does she feel as she’s looking at this shadow? What might she be remembering?
  5. Why is it in a book?
  6. Why do you think Jungho Le called this picture ‘Fall’?

 

Now have a go at writing the story of this woman’s life. Think about the questions below before you start to write :

    1. What world events has she lived through?
    2. What changes has she seen?
    3. What was her childhood like?
    4. Is she alone now? Has she always been alone? Was she ever married? Did she have children?
    5. What are her favourite memories?
    6. What’s her personality like? How will you show this through the writing?

Tuesday 30th June

Literacy Activity

 

This week, we will be working on ‘The Impossibly Possible Book shop’.

Activity 1: Read the story of The Impossibly Possible Bookshop on pages 3 -6,  you can have the story read to you if you follow the link at the top of page 3.

Then have a go at making a comic strip of the main parts of the story either on your own or by using the sentences on page 10 of the booklet to help you.

 

Activity 2: (Vocabulary work): Use pages 11 ‘Wonderful Words’ to match some words from the story to their definition. Remember to do the words you know first. Perhaps you could challenge yourself to use some of these words later on in the week.

By stretching (static or dynamic) this will improve our flexibility. ‘Flexibility is the elasticity of muscles when stretching and the ability to move joints through a full range of motion ‘

 

Something to think about when you have done the exercises -

Do you understand why stretching your muscles will improve your flexibility? Do you understand why it is important to be flexible when playing sport?

Today I would like you to focus on creating some characters for your story. In our story, a boy found a new world filled with Tree Goblins. Your task is to think of different types of goblin that your character could meet.

You can use page 13 and 14 to help you.

 

When you have created some types, choose your top three ideas, draw the goblins and write 5 facts that everyone should know about them. (look at page 14 – to help with your ideas)
