Today we are going to be doing a comprehension about a diary entry written by a 10-year-old girl, who took a trip to Egypt.
Don't forget to have a look at the questions first so you can think about possible answers whilst you are reading the text.

After learning about the afterlife last week, you will know how important Canopic jars were for storing the organs that would be removed from the body. Today we would like you to design your own Canopic jar on the worksheet below. Which organ would it be for? Think carefully about what to draw on your jar and how to decorate it. You could include some hieroglyphics writing too!

This week we are going creating an advert to encourage people to go on holiday to Egypt.
Activity one
First, we are going to learn how to write persuasively. Look through the PowerPoint and write down your top tips for being persuasive.
Activity two
Now look at the adverts on the word document (print them off you can) and label any key features of persuasive texts. If you don't have a printer, choose one to copy and label it.

Take a profile photograph of your face and print it off. If you don't have a photograph, try doing an accurate drawing using a mirror to help you. Stick it to a large sheet of paper and decorate with patterns and colourful shapes to turn yourself into an Egyptian pharaoh. Remember to email a picture of your finished work!

Today you are going to plan the words and sentences that you are going to use to make your holiday to Egypt advert really appealing.
Think back to Tuesday's PowerPoint and try to include…
- Appealing language, think of question sentences and exclamation sentences e.g. flights, hotel and a trip to the Pyramids of Giza for only £499!
- Catch the attention of the reader by using alliteration and rhyme e.g. Go and see a sizable, stupendous Sphinx!
Enjoy a 5 star room and visit Tutankhamun’s Tomb!
- Come up with a catchy slogan and your own brand name!
