Literacy Activity

 

This week, we are going to continue to use a Talk for Writing resource but this one is based on MONSTERS! Have a look at the booklet that we have attached here. Read the model text which is about SWAMP MONSTERS. Complete Activity One – matching the vocabulary to the definition then please complete Activity Two – looking at the underlying pattern of information texts. Like last time with the persuasive text, you could print this table out and cut it up and try match up the different sections.

One of our topics in Year 6 is FAIR TRADE. Our next few topic lessons are based on this.

 

Today, have a look at this presentation about the journey of a banana. When you have finished, watch this video that will tell you more about bananas:

We would now like you to create a comic strip to show the journey of a banana from planting to the supermarket. Feel free to research more about how bananas are grown. Use this comic strip to help you if you would like.

Today, we would like you to complete Activity Three – read and digest the toolkit (you will need this for when you write your own text!) Then we would like you to complete Activity Four which is based on formal and informal language.

Today we would like you to complete Activity Six – don’t draw your monster yet but come up with some ideas for its appearance, diet, habitat etc. Have a look at the heading on page 12. When you have done that, you can complete Activity Seven and DRAW YOUR MONSTER! Label your drawing too!
