Art – A Georgia O’Keeffe Landscape

Georgia O’Keeffe was famous for painting flowers but she also sometimes painted the landscapes of America – especially New Mexico. This means she painted what she could see in the land. She used vivid colours – here are some examples of her work.

Your task – is to use whatever materials you have (pencils, crayons, felt tips, paints, fabric, collage materials, charcoal) to either recreate one of Georgia O’Keeffe’s landscapes or use a photograph of a landscape of your choice to make your own landscape artwork in her style.

Art

So far we have looked at O’Keeffe’s landscape and flower art work. Today we are going to look at her artwork based around skulls. Sometimes when she was painting in the desert landscapes she would see skulls and she liked the way they had dark areas and different shapes in them.

Here are some examples of her work:

Your task today is to great  piece of artwork which incorporates a skull. You could perhaps sketch a skill with pencils and charcoal (shading too) and use a different medium in the background.

If you wish, you could print out a skull and create your own background.
