Literacy Activity
Today we are going to find out all about who Pablo Picasso is.
Top tip: Grown-ups you can read to the children let them know they need to listen really carefully because they will be answering questions about Picasso.

What features of the face do we have?
Eyes
Nose
Ears
Mouth
Task: Use old magazines or photographs of people in your family to make a portrait inspired by Pablo Picasso. Remember features of the faces do not need to be put in the usual places.
Top tip: Before gluing the pictures down play around with where you might put the features of the face. Once you are happy glue them on!

Tuesday 7th July
Literacy Activity
Today you will be a historian and an artist.
- You will explore the work of Picasso
- You will find out about Picasso’s abstract portraits.
- You will find out the differences between a realistic portrait and an abstract portrait.
Step 1: Work your way through the power point or see pictures below, it will tell you about Picasso’s abstract portrait’s and will show you pictures of his work.
Look at the questions along the way. Remember to share your ideas with your grown-ups, there are no wrong answers!

Activity: Once you have finished looking at the power point you can have a go at colouring. Choose from:
- There is an abstract art colouring picture
- Or an OBS colouring competition

We would love you to colour this beautiful OBS picture drawn by Katie Frazer. This is a competition and we are hoping to pick our favourites for a display in school so take your time and try to make your colouring AMAZING-Good luck!
For those families who don't have a printer, you can either collect a copy with your report if you haven't collected it yet or we will give your child one on transition day.

Art Activity
Today you will be recreating Picasso’s cubism portrait.
Look at the portraits below.
What do all of the images show?
What is the same in each painting?
Do the paintings show emotion? How does the artist show these emotions?
Now it is your turn to make an abstract portrait.
Your portrait needs to have:
- bold, block colours
- bold, black lines
- different sizes
- in strange orders
- strong shapes
- show emotion
Activity: Create your own cubism portrait, using the face guide and a dice below.
Top tip: If you don’t have a dice write numbers 1 to 6 on pieces of paper, turn them over and pick one. Mix them up before you choose your second one.
Now admire your portrait, share it with someone else get your grown-ups to send a picture of it to another family member. See what they think of your Picasso inspired portrait.

Last week we tried to find out more about our families. This week we are looking at our local community and where we live. Download the worksheet below. Can you make lists for each section? Write as many ideas as you can think of. You could ask your adult to help you.
Use the worksheet below and draw or label people or buildings in your community. The picture above may help you. If you haven't got a printer, you could design your own poster.
Watch the video clip for ideas. Can you now draw your ideal community or neighbourhood? What would you definitely have in your community?
You could also have a go at completing an A-Z community alphabet hunt.

Today you are going to be an interviewer, you will be putting your questioning skills to the test. You will think of questions that you would like to ask Pablo Picasso.
Remember questions start with:
Who
What
Where
When
Why
How
Did
Do
Are
For example:
Did you always want to be a painter?
What is your favourite painting?
Where was your favourite holiday?
Activity: Think of five questions to ask Picasso. Try to use a variety of question starters. Remember to finish you question with a question mark.
Write down your five questions remember to:
- To follow the Think it, Say it, Write it, Read it
- Use your phonics skills to spell words
- Use finger spaces
- Use capital letters
- Use question marks at the end of a question
- User neat handwriting
- Try your best
Challenge: Try some drama! You or your grown-up could pretend to be Pablo Picasso and answer the questions.

Art Activity
Topic – Music/ Art
To day you are going to use your imagination!
Have some pieces of paper and a pencil to hand.
Step 1: Listen to the music and draw lines to the music. Try not to take your pencil off the paper, I know it hard but try your best.
When the music has finished take your pencil off and have a look at the lines.
Step 2: Turn the piece of paper over. Listen to the song again, this time you can draw pictures to what you think the song is about.

Top tip: only let your child listen to the music, not watch the video as it will distract them from using their imagination.
