Literacy Activity - Comprehension
Have a look at the picture below and try to answer the following questions.
- What can you see?
- Who – or what – smashed the glass?
- Was the frog there before, or did it enter the frame afterwards?
- Who holds the key to the cabinet?
- Why is there a tag reading ‘Prince’?
- Is the frog a prince?
- Can you think of any stories you already know that this picture might relate to?
Challenge
- Use your answers to help you write an imaginative story about the picture above.

Maths Activity
Today's maths lessons is about arrays.

How to make a paper plate frog
You will need...
- Red card or paper - you could use white paper and colour it in
- Green car or paper - you could use white paper and colour it in
- Paper Plate - you could draw round a normal plate on paper and cut it out if you haven't got one
- Green paint or felt tips
Method
- Either use a paper plate or draw around a plate to create a circle, cut it out and then fold it in half and paint or colour it green.
- Draw your eyes and attach them near the fold. You could attach a paper spring to the back of them to make them stand up. Have a look at the picture below.
3. Draw legs on the green card, tape them to the back of your frog so that they dangle down.
4. Draw a red tongue out of card and stick it to the back of your frog.

Literacy Activity
This week our Literacy work is going to be based on the book 'Oi Frog!' by Kes Grey and Jim Field. If you have a copy at home please enjoy reading it, if not, please click on the link below to listen to the story.
Year 2 pupils are expected to use conjunctions in their own sentences such as;
when, if, that, because, or, and, but.
Have a go at writing some sentences about the book 'Oi Frog!' which include a conjunction. Here are some examples to help you :
Frog didn't want to sit on the log because it was uncomfortable.
Frog wanted to sit on a sofa ______ gophers sit on sofas!
Frog got squashed _________ the dog sat on him!
Challenge
Can you write some sentences which include two conjunction?
Frog didn't want to sit on the log because it was uncomfortable and it could give him splinters in his bottom.

Wellbeing Wednesday
Firstly, enjoy some Calm Me time with Mrs Cocker by watching the video below.
This week you will be thinking about friendship and how to be a good friend. Have a look at the video about 'Friendship Soup' and discuss your ideas with a family member. There are some questions below to help guide this discussion. Next have a go at completing the sheet below or creating your own 'Friendship Soup' poster. Don't forget to take a couple of minutes everyday for some Calm Me time.
You could also make yourself a pop up friendship card. Have a watch of the video below for instructions on how to make it.

Literacy Activity
Have a go at planning your own version of 'Oi Frog!' using the planning sheet below to help you.You could print it out or draw your own table on a piece of paper but don't forget to think carefully about your rhyming words!
Use this glossary to help you fill in the table.
Noun - a person, place, animal or object e.g. cat
Adjective - a word the describes a noun e.g. large
Verb - a word for an action e.g sits
Preposition - a word which tells you where something is e.g. besides, behind, underneath

Junk modelling - Have a go at making one of your animals from your literacy work out of junk. You may even like to take a photo of your animal in the position from your poem! For example I would take a photo of my junk model owl perching underneath a towel.

Friday 12th June
Literacy Activity
Use your 'Oi Frog!' plan from yesterday to create your own poem. You may like to write it out neatly and illustrate it with pictures of the animals or you might like to read it aloud and ask your adult to record it. You could add some props using toys and objects from home or even your animal junk model from yesterday. Be as creative as you like! We would love to see your poems and videos.
