Thursday 11th June
Literacy – writing a postcard
Today you are going to write a post card about a day at the seaside. You will write your postcard to Mrs Shaw and use school’s address.
The children have written a post card before during our around the world topic as part of our lessons all about Canada.
Think back to your writing on Tuesday and use some of those ideas of things to do at the seaside to help you with your writing today.
There is a template below or you could make your own postcard on plain paper. Remember to draw on line to help you with your best handwriting.
Top Tips:
Always begin a post card with ‘Dear’.
Write your post card in the past tense.
Use time connectives to help order your ideas e.g. then, next, after.
End your post card with ‘From’.
Include an address.
The picture and activity sheets have been taken from www.twinkl.co.uk
When you have finished your writing you can design a picture and stamp for your post card and then colour them in.

Topic – Art/ DT
Today you are going to be a designer.
- You are going to make either a beach hut of a bathing machine.
- You could do this by turning a cardboard box inside out and decorating it (collage/paint) to look like one of the pictures below.
- You might have a different idea of how to create your model.
- The challenge today is that it has to be a 3D model! Have a look on the internet for lots of great design ideas.

Now have a go at the activity below. If you don't have a printer use the document as a guide and use a plain piece of paper to show your working out or to draw your own pictures to help you solve the problems.
Topic – Art
- Today you are going to be an artist and complete some observational drawings of seashells.
- Look at the pictures below and pick your favourite shell.
- Think carefully about the shape and use a pencil to sketch the outline. Remember when we are sketching we press on lightly and you don’t need to use a rubber.
- Don’t make your picture too small as it will make it difficult to add in all of the patterns you can see on the shell.
- Now think about the patterns and shades you can see and sketch these onto your picture taking your time to add in as much detail as possible.
- When you have completed this shell you could pick another one but this time add on some colour using pencil crayons.
Please complete your daily 10 minute read with your adult.
