Wednesday

(See activities below)

Play a game of ‘I Spy’. Collect a tray of objects beginning with initial sounds s,a,t,i,p,n,ck or d. Can you identify the correct object?

Revisit the story

‘You Can’t Take an Elephant on a Bus’.

‘Write’ a list of all the animals in the story. You could add a picture for each one. You may be able to hear and have a go at writing the first sound for some letters.

Maths

Ask your grown up to say a number. Can you count out the correct number of passengers each time?

You can use the bus template and people in the resources section or draw your own.

Explore how many different ways you can group 5 passengers onto two buses. Can you find a way to represent all your different ways using marks on paper or pictures?

Draw 6 buses. Label them bus number 0-6. Your grown up will muddle them up. Can you drive them into the correct order to make a number line?

Keep your buses for tomorrow!

Use two bus templates today. Your grown up will put people on each bus. Can you say which bus has more or fewer passengers or if they have the same? Have 10 turns. Try and use the words more or fewer.

Topic

Choose an animal that wasn’t in the story. Draw or paint a picture of it in a mode of transport of your choice- the crazier the better!

Have you ever been on a bus? Draw a picture and ask your grown up to scribe what you remember underneath. Make your sentence longer by adding some details. If you haven’t been on a bus, write about where you would like to go.

Watch this program all about bus ramps and roads. What did you find out?

Make some bus tickets with prices to 5p and set up a pretend bus with cushions. Can you be the bus driver and take your family to different places? Perhaps you could draw a map showing some of your favourite places!
