New academic year 2020-21 Information

HEADTEACHER UPDATE - MONDAY 23RD NOVEMBER

Today we have had to close our Year 6 Bubble due to being informed this morning of a confirmed positive case this morning of one of our Year 6 pupils. We have done incredibly well to remain fully open in all year groups across the entire school for the last full 10 weeks!

All Year 6 pupils and members of the staff within the Year 6 Teaching Team are now required to self isolate until Wednesday 2nd December. They can return to school on their first day out of isolation on Thursday 3rd December.

A huge thank you to all of our Year 6 parents who were exceptionally supportive and came to collect their children as soon as they were able to. YOU ARE FANTASTIC!

Below is a copy of the letter emailed to all parents of all pupils across our school informing them of this one isolated confirmed case.

All Year 6 parents have been sent a more detailed letter including expectations for daily remote learning via the Tapestry APP.

Thank you for support OBS Family; you've been, as always, BRILLIANT!

COVID 19 LATEST PARENT INFO LETTER - 1.11.20

HEADTEACHER UPDATE - Wednesday 21st October

Dear Parents/carers,

We have been made aware during this half term break, of a positive COVID 19 case of a Year 3 pupil.

We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. After speaking to them this morning about the specifics of this one positive case, our school has been advised to contact parents from the Year 3 bubble, which the school has already done.

The pupil who has subsequently now received a positive test result, was last in school on Tuesday 13th October, meaning the Year 3 pupils will need to self-isolate until Wednesday 28th October, following the National 14 day self-isolation period. As a school, we can only react as quickly as we can when a positive result is received, as many of you will be aware some test results come back quicker than others due to the Governments priority testing set up.

Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

As a school, we are not required to inform all parents, only those with whom are required for their child to self-isolate; however, as throughout this whole pandemic, as a school we continue to be completely honest and transparent with you, our OBS community.

Due to the self-isolation period finishing on Wednesday 28th October, school will open on Monday 2nd November to the whole school, including Year 3 pupils.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Shaw

Headteacher

HEADTEACHER UPDATE - WEDNESDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER

Sadly the weather today at pick up time does not look like it is going to be in our favour!

Thank you so much to all of our parents for reacting to this mornings early 6:30am text message reminder, asking you to ensure your child had a waterproof, hooded coat in school today.

Luckily, due to the breaks in the heavy rain, we have managed to get all the children outside for morning break; lunchtime has proved a little trickier, but most year groups have had a small portion of time outside.

Our end of day collection, rain or no rain, will still be the same as normal, although none of the children will be sitting down in their year group pick up zones.

Please see the Word Doc below for information that explains to you as parents why as a school, with our specific, individual logistics of our school site, position of classrooms and year group exit points, we still require parents to collect pupils from our outdoor OBS one way system at the end of the day, even if it is wet. All decisions are made by each individual school in order to keep pupils and parents as safe as possible. (I can control the majority of things that happen at school, but have yet not mastered how to control the weather!)

Academic Year 2020-2021

Mrs Shaw explains the routines for the new school year.

Travelling to school

Please, wherever possible, can we ask parents to walk to school with their children rather than drive.

No bikes or scooters at the moment please.

We do not currently have spaces for bikes and scooters as we are using external walk ways around schools as much as possible rather than internal school corridors and have used large areas of outdoor space for year group pick up zones.

Information from Nottingham City if you need to use Public Transport to travel to school

SCHOOL UNIFORM AND PE UNIFORM

On Wednesday 2nd September all pupils are to arrive at school in School Uniform. (PE days - see below - will begin from Thursday 3rd September)
