Thursday 26th March

Activity 1: Practise writing numbers in words and spelling them correctly (53- fifty three). 

Activity 2: Choose one of you favourite books and retell it – you could draw pictures in a story map or write it in your own words.

Activity 3: Research the name of the 7 continents and the 5 oceans and write these down in your book. Can you think of 3 animals that would live there?

Optional Challenge: Measure 5 different things in your house using only your hands and feet.

Friday 27th March

Activity 1: Play shops with someone in your house. Give each item a price and then practise giving change to the person who buys it. (e.g. orange is 30p. Mum buys an orange for 50p. How much change does she get?

Activity 2: If you could have any animal in the world as your pet, what would it be and why? Write the answer in your book. 

Activity 3: Make a poster about keeping healthy.  Remember to include bright colours, a title, information and pictures. Think about: 

  • Healthy eating (different food groups/ the wellness plate). 
  • Exercise. 
  • Hygiene (including teeth). 
  • Water 
    Optional Challenge: African masks form an important part of ceremonial costume. Design and create your own African mask using things you can find around the house.

    Monday 30th March
    Activity 1: Pick a number between 1 and 20. Draw a bar model and write fact families about this number. (6+2=8, 2+6=8, 8-6=2, 8-2=6).
    Activity 2: Create a poster telling children what sentences need to include (full stops, capital letters, finger spaces and neat handwriting). You could draw pictures too. Make sure you make it bright and colourful.

    Optional Challenge: Can you make an African hand or finger puppet and use it to tell a story?

    Tuesday 31st March
    Activity 1: Create a repeating pattern using 3 different objects in your house. E.g. doll, doll, book, car, doll, doll, book, car. Draw the pattern in your book.
    Activity 2:  Choose one of the words from the spelling list at the front of your diary and make a list of as many words that rhyme with them as you can.
    Activity 3: Find out 3 interesting facts about your favourite African animal, don’t forget to draw a picture of them.
    Optional Challenge: How many different things linked to Africa can you think of for the letters of the alphabet? A is for Africa, B is for banana, C is for Cheetah…

    Wednesday 1st April
    Activity 1: Make a game up using your 2s, 5s and 10 times tables e.g. snap or snakes and ladders.
    Activity 2: Write a story about anything you like using at least 3 conjunctions (and, but, because, so) and at least 3 adjectives (e.g. beautiful, large, soft)
    Activity 3:Choose a habitat that we have learned about (ocean, desert, savannah, mountain, woodland) and draw a picture of it including some animals that you might find there.
    Optional Challenge: Make up your own game using things you have found around the house – don’t forget to use points so you know the winner.

    Thursday 2nd April
    Activity 1: Choose a number between 50 and 100. How many different sums can you find that equal that number? E.g. 50 + 5 = 55, 5 x 11 = 55, 100 – 45 = 55
    Activity 2: Research your favourite author and write a fact file about them, include their name, age, information about the books they have written and why they are your favourite author.
    Activity 3:  Go on a nature hunt in your back garden and create some art work using the objects you find? E.g. leaves, grass, twigs and stones.
    Optional Challenge: Count how many star jumps/hops/skips etc. you can complete in 1 minute. Write it down and you can see if you can beat your total another day, you could also increase the amount of time you do it for to make it trickier!

    Friday 3rd April
    Activity 1: Create a ‘2D shape picture’. Use only 2D shapes such as squares, rectangles and triangles to draw it, or you could even cut the shapes out of coloured paper to create your picture. Label the different shapes once it is finished.
    Activity 2: Have a go at drawing your own cartoon character, similar to the one we drew with Chris White a couple of weeks ago, if you are feeling really creative you could have a go at writing your own poem about it too!
    Activity 3:  Use some empty boxes and have a go at some junk modelling, you could create an African animal, a musical instrument, a new car…the opportunities are endless!
    Optional Challenge: Design your own Easter egg or Easter card ready for the Easter holidays!
