I will be in Foundation 2 in September

Transition week

Welcome to Foundation 2!

Transition activities Activity 1 Activity 2
Monday Watch the story ‘I am too absolutely small for school’. How did Lola feel about going to school? How do you feel about coming to school? Talk to your grown up about what you are excited about and looking forward to when starting school. We can’t wait to find out more about you. For your first activity we have made a sheet for you to tell us all of the great things you are good at, things you want to learn about and things you want to get better at. Fill it in with your grown-up and you can draw some pictures.
Tuesday Look at yourself in the mirror. Talk about what you look like. We are all individual and different. That is what makes us special. Draw or paint a picture of yourself, thinking carefully about which colours to use for your skin, eyes, and hair. Have ago at writing your name under your picture.

Over the holidays we would like you to create an ‘All About Me box’. See below for more information.

Start thinking about things to put in your ‘All About Me’ box and why you have chosen them. We would love you to bring this box to school in September so we can all get to know you.

All About Me Box

During your child’s first few weeks at school, we will be focusing on the topics; ‘Ourselves’ and ‘People who help us’. As part of us getting to know your child and celebrating them as an individual, we would like you to work with your child to create an ‘All About Me Box’ which reflects your child’s likes and interests. Children’s boxes can be made from recycled shoeboxes or cereal boxes and be decorated and filled with whatever your child is interested in. Please do not put anything expensive or of personal value in the boxes as items may accidently get misplaced. We will be asking children to talk about their likes and interests using their boxes as part of our topic, so please ensure your child co-operates fully in completing their ‘All About Me Box’. Please work with your child over the summer holidays to complete their box ready to be brought into school for the first week back. Please make sure your child’s full name is written clearly on the box. We are very much looking forward to getting to know your child when they start school in September.

Below are a few examples of some children’s ‘All about Me Box’s’ to help inspire you and your child. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact a member of the F2 Team.

Thank you.
