Reading

Children will bring home a coloured book band reading book and a reading for pleasure book to enjoy with family members at home. We ask that children read at least five times each week and that an adult signs their reading diary. On a Monday, reading diaries will be checked and reading books will be changed. On a Friday, the reading for pleasure books will be swapped.

We follow the Rocket Phonics reading scheme and your children will move through book bands as the year progresses. In your child's diary they will have a copy of the sound mat we use in class.

Spare Clothes

The children will be playing outside and inside all year round. It is great if the children have spare clothes in their bag in case they need to be changed during the day. The children will also be going outside in all weathers, so we ask that the children bring a waterproof coat to school.

School Dinner Menu

Please find below a copy of the school dinner menu. If possible, please choose a meal with your child and order on the Arbor app or discuss it with them so they can choose when they come to school.

Autumn  2

Autumn 1

Week 7

In our final week of term, the children really enjoyed exploring Room on the Broom. We made an exploding potion at the beginning of the week, explored the story in Drawing Club and made potions in the water tray. We also made wands and there were lots of spells being cast on the teachers and children!

Week 6

This week we opened our painting shed! The children really enjoyed helping set up the space, sweeping the floor and sorting all the resources. They took time to understand all the rules and then got started mixing the paint, pouring, filling and negotiating the space with each other. At the end of the week, we then washed the shed down with water ready to start again next week!

Week 5

This week the children have really settled into the school routines and become a lot more confident from the moment they come in, in the morning! This week in P.E we really enjoyed playing different games with the parachute.

Week 4

This week we started our writing journey with Drawing Club. Our story was The Three Billy Goats Gruff and the children drew their own troll, bridge and a way to save the troll from the river.

Week 3

This week we have started our phonics work and the children have done a great job of learning the 's' and 'a' sounds. It has been great to hear them engaged in their learning – having a go at saying the sounds, blending and writing them.

Week 2

It has been lovely to see the children settle into the school routine this week, make friends and enjoy exploring the indoor and outdoor environments.
