KIt Car Club

KIT CAR CLUB

6 Year 5 children and 6 Year 6 children have been invited to join our very first Kit Car Club. We have been very fortunate to have been donated a kit car from the University of Nottingham to make our own racing car from scratch. Two Engineering lecturers Liliana de Lilo and Lee Empringham have kindly volunteered to work with the after school club every Monday to make the car. Take a look at the photos that show how our journey started.

GREENPOWER GOBLIN EVENT

On Thursday 5th June the Kit car club children were part of the annual Greenpower Goblin Event in Lichfield. There were 25 other schools involved in the event all with their own kit cars. The races were divided into drag races (straight sprints) and slalom races. Each race needed a driver and a pusher. The races looked daunting to our children at first as the courses looked so different to our school playground! At first the children were nervous to have a go but eventually they all plucked up the courage and they all had at least one turn at driving. In the afternoon each school entered a timed race around the whole track, then competed against another school in the following rounds. We were so proud to reach the final 8, which is a fantastic achievement for our first time in the competition. In fact we were as "proud as peacocks"!
