Old Basford School is seeking to appoint an excellent and experienced Early Years teacher who will lead the EYFS phase and will work within the school’s Middle Leader Team.  The role would suit someone who has high expectations for all pupils and a drive for self-development. We are excited to welcome a new teacher and middle leader to our established and long-standing team.

We are an ambitious and aspirational school and pride ourselves on a strong equality, diversity and inclusion focus. We aim for all children to leave our school educated, equipped, enriched and empowered with the skills and knowledge to find success in the next stage of their learning, in all subjects and as citizens of the future.

As a school, we have a 40 place nursery and a 60 place reception classroom.  The foundation stage building has its own enclosed outdoor space which allows for effective continuous provision with wonderful outside opportunities.

    • Have a clear and ambitious vision for giving children the best start to their education.
    • Have experience of effectively leading a team of people to implement and sustain change.
    • Have a proven record of an impact of whole school change through curriculum leadership or phase leadership.
    • Be a consistently good early years teacher and ensure the curriculum is well taught across the setting.
    • Be able to drive forward pupil progress and achievement in their own class and across the phase.
    • Be passionate about teaching and learning and making a difference to every child.
    • Be able to work as part of an effective team, to communicate well and plan high quality learning experiences for pupils and be keen to contribute and share your skills with colleagues.
    • Be flexible and able to use your own initiative.
    • Be a role model to staff, pupils and the community.
    • Build effective working relationships with the lower school leader (Y1, Y2 & Y3) and the school leadership team.
    • Have excellent behaviour management strategies.
    • Be energetic, enthusiastic and creative.
    • Be willing to go the extra mile to make sure children have wider learning experiences.

    In return, we offer:

    • A welcoming school and community with a highly motivated, professional staff team who are committed towards continuously raising standards.
    • Excellent internal and external professional development opportunities.
    • Creative and purposeful learning environments.
    • Dedicated leadership time.
    • Excellent partnerships between pupils, staff, parents, governors and community.
    • A forward-thinking approach to teaching and learning throughout the school.
    • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Our latest Ofsted report (December 2023) stated ‘The school is well led. Staff say that they feel valued and cared for and that their workload is carefully considered throughout the year. They are happy and proud to work at the school.’
