    Welcome to Old Basford Nursery!

You have found our Nursery page! Each week, our page will be updated with photo's from our daily fun and activities that have occurred throughout that week.

    Nursery Rhymes

Each week, I will be posting the lyrics of a nursery rhyme that we will be learning the following week.  Please practise the rhymes with your child at home (even if they already know it) as it will increase their confidence to sing at Nursery and help to develop their speaking and listening skills. I will also be posting the nursery rhyme via tapestry.

    This half term...

This half term we will focus establishing our nursery routines and rules. We have welcomed a lot of new children over the last few weeks, so we will be learning our new routines and trying to embed them. If you could practice putting on and taking off coats with your child at home, that would really help us in Nursery.

    Bookbags...

Next week, I will be issuing school book bags. We will be changing books once a week - please ensure your child's bookbag is in school on a Monday . We are here to work with you and your child to support them in their learning. Please come and speak to a member of staff if you have any questions or concerns - our door is always open!

Thank you for your ongoing support,

    The Nursery Team x

    Week beginning 5th October ...

We have had a super busy week in Nursery and we have lots of very tired little faces today! This week, I have met with the majority of you for our Parent Review Meetings, I will be in contact with those who did not make an appointment - just so I can catch up with you regarding your child's progress.

Today (Friday) we have had our first carpet maths lesson and we have done brilliantly! We demonstrated our 'super sitting' and learnt lots about the colour 'red.' It would be great if you could ask your child to identify red objects within the home.

This week, it has been a rather wetter and cooler than we have been used to. Please could we ask that your child brings all relevant clothing to Nursery to ensure that they are warm whilst playing outside - hats, gloves, winter coats etc.

    Week beginning 28th September ...

We have had another fantastic week in Nursery! A huge thank you to those of you who turned up for our 'stay and read' session, the children loved it and it was great to speak to so many of you. We will be sending bookbags out next week, please can you ensure that your child's bookbag is in school every Monday for them to independently change their books. We have only got two weeks left of our first half term - it has flown! We will spend the next few weeks practising putting on and taking off our coats. Next week will be our second week of our story 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff,' we have loved reading this story and we have created some beautiful pieces of artwork ready to go up on the wall.

    Our first few weeks....

We are now three weeks into our first half-term and we are all having lots of fun. We have spent the last few weeks learning new routines and trying to apply them. We are starting to get really good at finding our own name pegs and trying to take off our coats independently. Some of us find unzipping our coats quite difficult - if you could practice this at home with your child that would be great.

Our story for the last two weeks has been 'The Enormous Turnip,' we have really tried hard to remember the story and demonstrated 'super sitting.' Here are some snap shots from the last few weeks...
