Year 4 Show Racism the Red Card Wristbands

For our final week of the half-term, our year 4s have been unbelievably busy and hard working! We've been panning, writing, editing and publishing our instructions on how to keep your teacher happy, including lots of fantastic vocabulary! We've also been doing unbelievably well with our column addition, including more than one exchange. Finally, we've been getting hands-on with making electrical circuits, adding switches to turn them on and off and also finding conductors and insulators within our class.

Week 6 - Week beginning Monday 5th October

Our Year 4s got out of school this week, going to Ellis Guildford to do some indoor sports hall athletics and were absolutely amazing! They were complimented by the organisers for the impeccable listening skills, resilience and enjoying every second of the morning!

In our Maths lessons, the children have been practising using column method for some tricky questions with 4-digit numbers (up to 10,000). Our writing lessons has seen us practising: expanded noun phrases, imperative (bossy) verbs, adverbs of time and adverbs of manner. All in preparation for planning, writing, editing and publish our instructions on How to keep your teacher happy.

Week 5 - Week beginning Monday 28th September

Year 4 started their second unit of writing.  Today, they were taking part in drama, acting out various scenarios, which the rest of the class had to guess.  There was some top rate acting!

Week 3 - Week beginning Monday 14th September

Our Year 4s have been getting into their routines of life in Year 4 and are doing exceptionally well! In Maths, we've been focusing on place value, introducing them to numbers up to 10,000! Within our writing lessons, we have been learning more about key features of creative writing a narrative based on The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. The children have confidently been using: similes, expanded noun phrases and commas in a list. During our Topic lessons, the children were focusing on the 'R' of our PROUD rules, RESPECT! We created our very own respect tree in class and worked in teams to build the strongest structure with just art straws and a small amount of cellotape. In our Art lessons, the children are really enjoying creating their own robot in the style of Chris Mould, a British illustrator.

Week 2 - Week beginning Monday 7th September

What a great first full week for our new Year 4s! They've settled extremely well into Year 4 life and have been getting to know their teachers well and their class routines. We've introduced the children to our first text this half-term which is The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We even found an absolute mess of a catastrophe all over the playground!!

We've also started our Art lessons with Mrs Maker and the children are LOVING getting creative with their robotic designs!
