Year 4 were lucky to be taught by Martha Toogood - an expert practitioner who has visited the school for several years.

Our final week of our half term has been a very productive one! It was fantastic to see so many parents come in for our in class work showcase. Thanks a lot to those parents! The children love seeing you come in and it was great to share all our hard work we've put in this topic.
We also had our Cultural Diversity Day. This is a day where children can dress in their cultures clothes and wow! Children throughout the school wore some of the most amazing garments and jewellery with pride which was beautiful to see. We had a huge parade around the school with singing and dancing, and of course... flag waving!
Week beginning Monday 11th May
The highlight of this week for everyone was... SPORTS DAY!!! Children behaved fantastically throughout, and really showed all of our PROUD rules during the events. All children tried their hardest and participated with huge smiles on their faces!
Week beginning Monday 4th May
Our Year 4s have dived into a new writing unit, writing an informational travel guide to Nottingham and Basford. We always introduce the children to high-level vocabulary which we encourage them to use in their writing to increase their ever expanding vocabulary. We played lots of different types of games to get them using these words and practising them in sentences.
We also finished our Science experiment, showing what different liquids can do to your teeth (represented using egg shells) and the children thoroughly enjoyed the smells and textures of the eggs and all the different types of liquids.
Week beginning Monday 27th April
The excitement was at another level this week for our Year 4s with the return of the second Me v Me Challenge! The children's behaviour was absolutely brilliant and they all excelled with their results. Special shout out to Jaylen, Daniel and Amirah for getting our 3 most improved scores. Also a huge shoutout for Umika getting our teacher's award for being such a great participant, always with a huge smile on her face.
Week beginning Monday 20th April
During our Science lessons this week, the children were learning all about our digestive system, different parts of it and what they do. We got outside and enjoyed drawing around ourselves and labelling these parts of the body.

Week beginning 23rd February
Our Year 4's had a brilliant WOW day to get them immersed in our new topic 'Rumble in the Jungle'. We're looking all at rainforests, in particular the Amazon Rainforest. The children found a mysterious backpack full of useful objects, received a letter from a girl in an Amazon tribe and explored our school grounds, focusing on our environment, what we can hear, see and smell. The children were very interested in learning all about different types of trees and enjoyed our tree bingo hunt. We even created a pizza wheel. This is where the children are grouped up, and given a slice of pizza (cardboard unfortunately) and then they go and explore the area that the piece of carboard was facing. The items them found were fantastic!!!
This week, our Year 4s have been immersed into our new Writing text, Beowulf! They have done some fantastic drama work to better understand the text and have had some real fun acting out Beowulf's battle scene against the wicked Grendel. We've also learnt some excellent, new vocabulary words, from the Beowulf text, which the children have been trying hard to use in sentences.
This half term, we will be learning all about the Romans and how they impacted our lives today.

This week has been a busy week for our children as they've been doing some reading, Maths and SPaG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) assessments. They've worked ever so hard on these and we're really proud of them all. They did get messy and creative during a very enjoyable History topic lesson about Roman roads. They looked at the different layers of what a Roman road was made up of and then smashed up: cereal, smarties, biscuits and chocolate to recreate the roads. Great fun!!!

Our Year 4s have been hard at work this week! We discovered a time capsule treasure chest which our teachers left for us! Then the children got busy writing about a special object of ours and we even buried it on the school grounds!! The children were loving writing about some of their teachers' objects. During Art, the children got creative using chalk to design their own Roman columns. PE is where the children got to burn off a lot of energy, creating fantastic shapes!

Within our History Topic, The Rampaging Romans, the children got creative after learning all about Hadrian's Wall. They were tasked with building a wall which included: a fort, turret and mile house.

Thank you to all the adults who were able to make our fantastic times tables and multiplication workshop. For those who weren't able to attend, here is a copy of what we spoke about and did during the workshop. Times Tables and Multiplication Workshop
This week in art, we made mosaics out of bottle tops with the wonderful Mrs Maker.

In the afternoons, our first topic is called Flashes & Bangs and we will be learning about Electricity and Sound (see above attachment), making an Iron Man head with electrical eyes and lots more! Y4 will also have the privilege ow weekly guitar lessons as well as outdoor PE with Coach Hannah.

Lots of fun was had on our Wow day! There was a mysterious collection of metal objects on the school playground. It looked like a metal 'something' had walked of the top playground and fell down.... We then made robots on the field (Thankfully it was a sunny day!). Finally, we explored Garage Band on the Ipads, creating a soundtrack for an Iron Man.
