    Welcome to Old Basford Nursery!

You have found our Nursery page! Each week, our page will be updated with photo's from our daily fun and activities that have occurred throughout that week.

    Nursery Rhyme Booklets

At the beginning of each half term, your child will be given a nursery rhyme booklet with all the rhymes we will be learning over those coming weeks. In the booklet is a copy of each weeks lyrics along with a QR code, if you scan the QR code, this will take you to the youtube video that supports each rhyme. Please practise the rhymes with your child at home (even if they already know it) as it will increase their confidence to sing at Nursery and help to develop their speaking and listening skills.

    This half term...

This half term we will focus on re-establishing and then embedding our nursery routines. Children have settled back into Nursery brilliantly after the October half term and we are so proud of them all.

This half term we will be implementing 'Story Dough' into our mornings. Story Dough is fantastic program that focuses on using playdough alongside a fantastic range of texts. As we read stories, children will create characters or objects from the text using their playdough building on their fine motor skills. This was a huge hit with last years Nursery and we are positive it will a success again.

    Bookbags...

On Monday, your child will be coming home with a bookbag, picture book and reading diary. Children will be changing their own books every Monday and Thursday - please ensure that your child's bookbag is in school on these days.

We are here to work with you and your child to support them in their learning. Please come and speak to a member of staff if you have any questions or concerns - our door is always open!

Thank you for your ongoing support,

    The Nursery Team x

Week Beginning - 8th December 2025. Our week in pictures...

Wow, what a busy week in Nursery! We started our week with our Christmas sing-a-long, I'm sure you will all agree that our children did an amazing job, they all sang so beautifully - it was so wonderful to see and hear! On Thursday, we had our Christmas 'Stay and Create', a huge 'thank you' to you all for taking the time to come into Nursery and create with your child, they absolutely loved the Christmas crafts and we hope you did too! We are now approaching our final week of school and your child has completed the first term of the academic year. The Nursery Team are so proud of the children's resilience, they really have embraced Nursery! Next week we have our PROUD assembly on Tuesday at 11am, each child will be awarded a certificate to celebrate their achievements in Nursery - it would be lovely to see you all there. On Thursday, we have our Nursery Christmas Party - children can come to school in party clothes but please remember we will be going outside so sensible shoes will be needed. If you haven't already done so, please could you send your child to school with a £1 contribution, this will help greatly with the cost of party food.

    Huge thanks as always,

    The Nursery Team x

We've had another fantastic week in Nursery, here is a little snap shot of our week...

Week Beginning - 17th November 2025. Our week in pictures...

The weeks seem to be flying by in Nursery and our children have well and truly settled. Our Christmas sing-a-long practice is now in full swing and our children are trying so hard with their singing. It has been a really cold week outside, please can you ensure that your child is wrapped up for the weather, we go outside regardless. This week's story is 'stickman', children have loved reading the story and talking about what Stickman gets up to on his travels.

Week Beginning - 3rd November 2025. Our week in pictures....

We have had a fantastic first week back! All children have settled back in beautifully and it's like we've never been away. This week we have been reading the story 'The Quiet Little Firework', it is a lovely story and the children have thoroughly enjoyed it. We will carry on with our firework theme next week and will be producing some beautiful artwork for our displays.
