AUTUMN TERM - FLASHES AND BANGS
This half term term, we read and write a description based on The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. Our first maths focus is number and place value (see above attachment). In the afternoons, our first topic is called Flashes & Bangs and we will be learning about Electricity and Sound (see above attachment), making an Iron Man head with electrical eyes and lots more! Y4 will also have the privilege of weekly guitar lessons as well as outdoor PE with Coach Hannah.
There's a lot to look forward to
Week beginning Monday 6th October
Practising measuring, cutting and joining in DT
Week beginning 29th September
Practising rounding to 10, 100 and 1,000 - a skill we need to practise all year!
Each week, Y4 have the chance to practise their times tables on TTRS. By June, pupils are expected to learn their times tables (up to 12x) out of order, fluently and at speed for a national test. Regular practise at school and home is essential!
Additionally, each week we learn a different spelling pattern. Here they are practising look, cover, write and check. All pupils in Y4 should be bringing home a wordsearch on a weekly basis to share these with parents and guardians.
Week Beginning Monday 22nd September
Class 9 experimenting with circuits, using switches and different conductors and insulators.
Week Beginning Monday 15th September
Our Year 4's in their first guitar lesson!
Week starting Monday 8th September
Lots of fun was had on our Wow day! There was a mysterious collection of metal objects on the school playground. It looked like a metal 'something' had walked of the top playground and fell down.... We then made robots on the field (Thankfully it was a sunny day!). Finally, we explored Garage Band on the Ipads, creating a soundtrack for an Iron Man.
