Live Area Band Rehearsals
It was wonderful to see Old Basford School area band children playing alongside two other schools yesterday; Crabtree and Southwalk. The children were a credit to the school, they worked well as a team, inspired and elevated each other’s playing. Simply wonderful! They were learning a good mix of musical styles, the songs included Spiderman No Way Home, Wallom Green and Tumba Palo. We have got to admit our favourite is Tumba Palo which is an Afro-Cuban song, it really gets you moving and a grooving.
Area Band Boomwhacker Fun!
After finding out all about what boomwhackers are we learnt to play 'I'm a believer' as a group. Then the children had some time to freestyle and make some magical music!
Class 8 African Drumming
Wow! Well done class 8 drummers, you are doing a brilliant job keeping the beat and making everyone move their feet. Keep drumming!
Spring Term Area Band
We kick started our first session learning to play part of Bob Marley's famous song One Love. We had lots of fun practising and were on point! Super stars!
Other songs have included:
a Spanish song
Lilo and Stich Hawaiian Roller Coaster
Tuesday Night Area Band 3:20-5:00
What a start to Area Band I was blown away with the enjoyment shown, the effort and determination you put into your guitar playing. You were a credit to Old Basford School and I cannot wait to get jamming with you again.
African Drumming The Grand Finale
Well what can I say, it was music to my ears walking down the corridor listening to the delightful beats from the year 3 classroom. Laughter and squeals of delight escaped from the children, oh what fun they were having! The children are in their second week and what a show they put on. I was thrilled to see some children already stepping up to the mark, by becoming the leaders in the session.
2021 Drumming Club Fun!
