Girls' Football
Wed 06 Mar 2024Last night our girls' football team had their first fixtures of the year. I was really proud of them and delighted to have so much support from parents. We dominated our first match winning 2 -0. Then the second match was far more equal. It ended with us loosing 1- 0 but could have gone either way. A great effort from all especially as for some it was their first ever match.

Fri 01 Mar 2024The fantastic athlete, Alayah Hudson (year 1), has had more success in her field of Taekwondo. She recently competed in a match in Barnsley and won!! She walked away with a trophy and brought it into school to show us. Alayah is a shining example of how hard work pays off and is a fantastic role model for the rest of her class mates.

YEAR 5 STAR GAZING EVENING
Thu 22 Feb 2024Last night was a very exciting one at OBS! Year 5 children were invited back to school to take part in a 'STAR GAZING EVENING' to support their learning about Earth and Space.
The evening was ran by Laurel Armstrong who is the Science Lead for Nottingham Schools Trust. Things kicked off with an interactive tour of the solar system then Laurel used her planetarium to give the children a fascinating tour of the night sky. They learnt all about the different constellations we can see from planet Earth. Using a special app, the children then went outside to see how many stars they could spot. Sadly, it was a cloudy night but we did manage to spot a few stars and even the planet Jupiter was visible!
Back inside, the children took part in various fun activities to do with Earth and Space such as training to be an astronaut, using telescopes and building rockets. The evening finished with hot chocolate and biscuits!

Punctuality Awards
Fri 09 Feb 2024Mrs Spilsbury and myself have been delighted this afternoon to award one child from each class (randomly selected from a wheel of names) with a prize and treat time for good punctuality this half term.
We will be running this reward system again after the half term break but with an added class treat at the end of term. More details will follow in the Attendance Newsletter.
Well done to the 14 children selected for the treat time.
An amazing 180 children had their name in the draw 25 times - the maximum amount. They will all be receiving a small prize after the half term break. Let's see if we can beat that total next half term!
