  • CROSS COUNTRY RELAY CITY CHAMPIONS

    Mon 30 Sep 2019

What an incredible afternoon at Colwick Country Park for the City Finals of the Boys and Girls Team Cross Country Relay! As always we heavily promote and support all sports and physical activity here at OBS! We were lucky enough to have so much talent in school that we entered 1 full girls team and 2 full boys teams! Each member of the team had to do a 1.5km run around Colwick Lake before passing the baton on to a team mate.

Congratulations to the girls team of Libbie, India, Jailah and Maria for an impressive 5th place team finish! (Special praise must go to reserve Libbie who stepped in to the team last minute this morning - fantastic effort and attitude!)

Our Boys B Team made up of Caleb, Lewis, Deacon and Rio finished in 3rd place! WOW! Bronze medallists for Nottingham City - AMAZING!!

Our Boys A Team stormed to victory in 1st place! Congratulations to Christian, Jacob, Alijah and Harvey! OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE!

Well done to Cole for being a STAND OUT Boys Team reserve - your time will come! I have no doubt of it!

Incredibly PROUD of you all! (Girls team picture to follow shortly - the Ipad died after taking the boys photo!)

  • SHAKESPEARE AMBASSADORS

Tue 24 Sep 2019 MRS THOMAS
For the first time ever we have 4 Shakespeare Ambassadors at OBS. Today Mrs Thomas took the 4 lucky pupils, Aaryan, Jack, Kara and Nemrah to the Theatre Royal to have their introductory trainind session with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company Education Team. We had a great day getting to know the other 36 Nottingham pupils who have been given this prestigious title. The boys and girls got to know about their roles and responsibilities and now have a better understanding about spreading the word about Shakespeare. The children came away full of enthusiasm and really motivated to carry out their roles. See our RSC button on our Curriculum page for further news and details.
  • GUITAR CLUB HAS NEVER BEEN SO POPULAR

    Tue 24 Sep 2019
I am so pleased that we have so many children choosing to still continue the guitar from first learning it in Y4. Here at OBS all Y4 children receive free guitar lessons once a fortnight throughout the academic year. Children then if they wish to can continue having free guitar tuition in an after school club in both Y5 and Y6! This is our new Y6 Guitar Club, we hope that many of them will be ready to take their Grade 1 examination at the end of the academic year!

Congratulations to the 22 Year 6 pupils who yesterday in assembly achieved their Star of Basford BRONZE badge after just 3 weeks of school. To receive 10 votes from staff throughout school each, after just 15 school days, shows the high profile you have here at OBS for being a role model and high expectations you consistently demonstrate in all you do! Well done! (The next Bronze Badge announcement for Y6 will be in 3 weeks.)
