• Maths Workshop - National Numeracy

  This year, Old Basford are lucky enough to be part of the National Numeracy Parental Engagement Programme. We are one of 10 schools in the city to be part of this project which will be running throughout the year and aims to engage children and parents with maths in the everyday world in a fun way.

  On Thursday last week, we held our first meeting led by Bryony Clark from the National Numeracy project. This was very well attended and was very informative. 

  Below is the PowerPoint that Bryony used so you can read through this if you were unable to attend the session.

  Contained in the PowerPoint is a QR code which takes you to the National Numeracy Challenge website, a free resource aimed at developing adult confidence in maths.

• Chess Team

  After school today, the chess team played its first matches of the year and made a fantastic start! It was also lovely to see that for most of the team, it was their first time representing the school in chess.

• Children in Need 2023

  We had a fantastic day fundraising for Children in Need today! Thank you for your generous donations towards this important cause. The children looked fantastic in their Pudsey inspired outfits! We all enjoyed some special activities and dedicated some time to think about the importance of helping others and showing kindness.

• Cross Country at Wollaton Hall

  We had a fabulous afternoon in the Autumn Sunshine at the Nottingham City Cross Country Championships. All twelve of our runners did OBS proud really pushing themselves to their limits. Well done especially as everyone came in the top 100 of a very large field. 

  

• Autumn Disco

  We all had a great time at the disco last night even though it was a bit strange having it on a Monday! The hot dogs were very popular and Mrs Thomas did such a great job making them that some children came back for seconds and even thirds! As always, there was some great moves on the dance floor. A big thank you to DJ Tony for once again giving us a great evening.

• Autumn 1 Attendance Awards

  This week we have given out attendance awards for Autumn 1.  Any children with 100% attendance last half term were awarded their gold certificate and any children with 96%+ got their silver certificate.

  We were delighted to award 212 children with gold and 94 children with silver.

  We have told the children that Autumn 2 started on Monday and we will be giving out more certificates for Autumn 2 attendance in January.  Let's see if we can beat that number this half term!
