  • UNDER ONE SKY ART PROJECT

    We are so PROUD here at Old Basford to be part of the UNDER ONE SKY Nottingham City art project! All of our Y4 pupils today have had lessons with Jane Stockley, local artist, in order to each produce an individual print collage what will be used in a mass collective collage for a gallery exhibition in September! Thank you to Jane for her vision, passion and creativity, the children have loved their time with you!

    This weeks we have had 2 fantastic external providers come to our school and teach tennis! One of the providers Rainbow Tennis has asked me to share these events with you for this weekend! BIG TENNIS WEEKEND! I hope some of you are able to go and enjoy it!
  • FAMILY MATHS QUIZ

    Thank you to all the pupils, parents and grandparents who joined us on Tuesday night after school for our very first OBS FAMILY MATHS QUIZ! What a fantastic atmosphere of fun, number and problem solving. Everyone was made to feel especially well looked after with refreshments during the quiz thanks, once again, to our fantastic FOBS (Friends of Old Basford School) Team.
  • OBS Y4/5 QUAD ATHLETICS TEAM IN THE CITY FINALS

    Congratulations to the 5 Boys and 5 Girls from Y4 and Y5 who this afternoon represented our school just brilliantly at Harvey Haddon Stadium for the Nottingham City Finals of Outdoor Athletics! Many of them came 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their 4 individual (QUAD) events: long jump, mini howler throw, 50m sprint and a 400m long distance! PROUD!
  • NEW Y3 TENNIS CLUB 'HAVING A BALL!'

    It was fantastic to witness our new Y3 Tennis club in action tonight first hand! The children were thriving in trying a new after school club sport for us here at OBS! Mr Castle, who is a sports apprentice at Basford College, just down the road, has really enjoyed his sessions her at OBS and is keen to come make during the autumn term next academic year! 
  • GOVERNANCE AWARD FOR OBS

    Congratulations to our long standing Chair of the Old Basford School Governing Body, David Lawson. This weekend, at the Regional Governance Conference, he was awarded with this! We as a school are incredibly lucky to be in such dedicated and good hands!
  • SCIENCE DETECTIVES

    This morning 16 of our y4 pupils got to be Science Detectives! Investigating a crime scene they had to collect evidence and then use science experiments to eliminate who had been at fault! They thoroughly enjoyed and thrived using practical science for a real life purpose!
  • BASEFEST NIGHT 3 'THE ARTS'

    Our final night of BASEFEST celebrated THE ARTS from a musical perspective by having our annual OBS Music Showcase! All of our KS2 pupils and parents of those performing were invited to join us in the school hall and what a treat we had in store for us! We were entertained by pianists, singers, African drummers and guitar players. It was just wonderful to see pupils performing in large groups, in small groups, in duets and even some soloists! Your talent and love for music was there for all to see, admire and aspire towards! Opportunities Bring Success! PROUD!
  • BASEFEST NIGHT 2 'THE ARTS'

    On Tuesday night, continuing our 'THE ARTS' theme celebration; the drama club were FANTASTIC in performing scenes from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Every pupil projected their lines using the original Shakespearian dialogue with power and clarity! PROUD! Also on Tuesday night the OBS Street Dance team performed their routine from the National Finals of The Big Great Dance Off! Both acts reviewed overwhelming applause from the audience.
  • Imam Ahmed from Basford Mosque Visits OBS

    It was our pleasure to have Imam Ahmed at our school on Wednesday. He led a whole school assembly sharing with our children his faith and special celebrations with in the Muslin calendar. Pupils throughout school had prepared questions they'd like to ask him, many of them very mature and insightful; all of which he answered happily and praised the children for their thinking.
