How exciting!  The Proud Pound shop opened for the first time today and the children had the chance to spend the proud pounds they have earned this half term.

Some children have chosen to save their proud pounds as they are saving for a bigger reward and others were keen to come and spend!

The shop will be open again at the end of next half term.

  • Year 3 African Drumming Club

Tue 12 Oct 2021 Mrs Kelly

Well what can I say, it was music to my ears walking down the corridor listening to the delightful beats from the year 3 classroom. Laughter and squeals of delight escaped from the children, oh what fun they were having! The children are in their second week and what a show they put on. I was thrilled to see some children already stepping up to the mark, by becoming the leaders in the session. Keep drumming!

How lucky were we?  Old Basford School managed to secure 260 tickets for the matinee showing of 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks'.

Mrs Thomas put out the offer to all our families to see if they would like to have the wonderful opportunity to take their children to watch the show and have a fantastic theatre experience.

112 of our children at school enjoyed a brilliant performance and reported this morning that it was 'amazing'!

We are glad you all had a lovely time!

  • Black History Month

Fri 08 Oct 2021 Miss Priddle

October marks Black History Month.  At Old Basford we celebrate and recognise the importance of all ethnic groups throughout the academic year, but today, we celebrated with a whole school assembly.  We learnt about why Black History Month started and of some of the important black people in world history.  We also had a class quiz to name some of the current black heroes we celebrate and admire.  We finished by watching a song that the children really enjoyed.
