  • Year 5 Boys Active

Wed 31 Jan 2024 Miss Marrow

Old Basford attended the Year 5 Boys Active sport festival at Harvey Hadden on Tuesday. 8 boys had the opportunity to try out some brand new sports including curling. The boys behaved brilliantly for Miss Lawson and had a great time trying out some fun activities. Just look at those smiley faces! The boys showed team work, respect and persistence- all key values promoted at school. Thank you for being great role models and showing what sport is all about at Old Basford.

  • Recognition Time - 26.1.24

    Fri 26 Jan 2024

A gorgeous Recognition Time today with those children who have gone above and beyond this week.  It was great to see recognition happening in lessons, lunchtimes and after school club! The adults are always watching out to give the special praise.

After celebrating the successes from the week, I asked the children if they feel safe in school and they all said yes.  I followed this up by asking what they would do if they felt unsafe and they were able to talk about speaking to a trusted adult.  Well done everyone!

  • Recognition Time - 19.1.24

    Fri 19 Jan 2024

It was a full house this morning with children who have gone above and beyond this week in so many ways.  The majority of pupils were from Year 5 and 6, which was great to see them being real leaders of school.  The reasons this week varied, and included: brilliant attitude to learning, fantastic presentation, outstanding writing, great stamina in sport and being kind and helpful! Well done OBS!

Some children did not want to have their photo taken but lots were happy to show their happy smiles.

  • Recognition Time - 12.1.24

    Fri 12 Jan 2024

What a lovely way to end the week, Recognition Time with 6 well deserving pupils.  This week pupils were recognised for:

    - fantastic work in class

    - helping others

    - keeping school organised and tidy

    - always being ready to learn

I asked the children what they would do with a magic wand and they spoke about wanting a slide and swing; certainly something to think about!

  • Football League Matches

Fri 12 Jan 2024 Miss Marrow

Last night, the football team played two matches in the U11 football league. The two matches were played at Southglade Leisure Centre against Robin Hood Primary School and Southglade School.

Match 1= Final score was 2:2 with a lovely goal scored by Jacob.

Match 2= Final score was 2:2.

The children conducted themselves beautifully with some questionable referring in the second match. A very soft penalty given and with two injuries to Blake and Jaxon, the children pushed their dissatisfaction to the side and shook hands with all the players and the referee. I was very PROUD and Mr Ross would have been proud too.

  • Dick Whiitington

Thu 11 Jan 2024 JAYNE THOMAS

Year 5 had a wonderful time today at the Nottingham Theatre Royal when they went to see the panto Dick Whittington. WE were really lucky to get free tickets, thanks to our connection with the theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. The play was really funny, the children loved the experience and were massive fans of the dancing, acrobatic cat!

  • Car Idling Competition

    Thu 11 Jan 2024

A big congratulations to Dabira who won a competition to create a poster to highlight the dangers of car idling. Our Eco Council members took part in the competition that was run by local councillors. The winning entry will be displayed in the local area alongside other winners from nearby schools.

  • Recognition Time - 5.1.24

    Fri 05 Jan 2024

    First Recognition Time of 2024!

3 pupils were chosen within the first 2 days of starting back after the Christmas break.  So PROUD of them and the positive attitude they have shown - keep it up!

It was lovely to spend time chatting about Christmas but most importantly about the activities they enjoy outside of school.
