It was lovely to see so many parents at the 'Community Catch Up ' event this morning, everyone appreciated a hot drink after braving the cold , wet weather conditions!

We were joined by our Family Support Worker Carole who was on hand to give some useful advice.

Thank you for all of your ideas about how we could improve our school and also great ideas for the Winter Fair.

Our book swap is steadily growing with both adult and children's books.

Look out for the date of our next event where we hope to invite more local services along.

  • Royal Shakespeare Company visit to OBS

Wed 13 Nov 2019 Mrs Thomas
We were extremely privileged today to have hosted the Royal Shakespeare Company who performed 'The Merchant of Venice'. The play was absolutely amazing! Our Year 5 and 6 children were mesmerised by the acting for a whole 90 minutes and although the actors used the original Shakespeare text, the children were completely hooked and understood what was happening. We also welcomed Year 3 from Whitemoor Primary to watch the play who were equally enthralled. My 4 Shakespeare ambassadors, Aaryan, Jack, Kara and Nemrah enjoyed being stage hands and taking part in the play. They did a sterling job and did me proud!
  • CINEMA TRIP

Mon 11 Nov 2019 Mrs Tee
Year 2, 3 and 4 really enjoyed their trip to Broadway cinema in town . We all learnt about what it takes to train guide dogs whilst watching 'A pick of the litter' documentary film and we found out that it is not easy! Following on from last week's visit by David and his guide dogs , from Guide dogs for the Blind, this enrichment activity has helped our children to consider and understand respect and tolerance for others. Well done OBS you were great ambassadors for our school both at the cinema and travelling there. An enormous thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along with us.

  • NEW OBS CHESS TEAM COME 2ND IN THEIR FIRST TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR

    Thu 07 Nov 2019
A massive well done to the NEW OBS Chess Team who played their first match of the season. Everyone played extremely well and contributed towards the school's score, with Rylan from year 4 having the honour of scoring the first point for Old Basford! This is all the more impressive as most of the team are new and this was their first competitive game representing the school. Bring on the rest of the season! Mr Ross
  • Year 2 Guide Dog Visit

    Mon 04 Nov 2019

This morning Year 2 pupils were very lucky to have David and his guide dogs Brydie and Elliot visit us in class.  The children asked many sensible questions to deepen their knowledge of how and why blind people use guide dogs.  They all showed respect and tolerance in a new situation, well done.  After the visit, all the children were able to share something that they had learnt from the experience.  What a fun first morning back.
