  • New books for school

    Tue 15 Mar 2022

Due to the City library relocating, an opportunity arose for us to buy some discounted books for school. Mrs Priddy was delighted to return with over 250 new books for school! These books have replenished our library, added to our classroom books and joined our reading for pleasure books to take home. Here are some photos of the children enjoying reading them.

  • An amazing week of sporting success for OBS

    Fri 11 Mar 2022

    Girls Football

On Tuesday we took our girls football team to a 6-aside tournament in which we had to finish in the top 3 out of the 7 teams competing to qualify for the city finals. We played 6 games, won 2 and drew 4. This put us on 10 points which meant we came joint 2nd, A great achievement which now sees us move to the finals on the 22/3/22. It is also worth mentioning that we did'nt concede a goal in this tournament.

    League Match

We then travelled to Southwark on Wednesday to continue our league campaign against Robin Hood, winning 2-0 with Mojet scoring both goals. This keeps us still unbeaten the only 1 game to go. The girls are representing the school brilliantly.

    Squad

Tait, Mojet, Nyah, Amy, Georgia, Esme, Frankie, Lilly-may and Casey-Leigh

We ended up finishing 3rd. This was a massive achievement. This means out of all the schools in Nottingham, we were 3rd best. This just adds to such a successful year of sports with still more to come.

Thank you to everyone who kindly donated much needed items to help Ukrainian refugees. As always we were overwhelmed by the generosity of our amazing OBS community. A big thank you to Lindley's at Old Basford for helping to transport donations to collection points and also to our fabulous staff for filling up their boots and dropping off bags. Well done to Blake in Year 4 who made some very eye catching posters to help raise awareness.

  • World Book Day

    Thu 03 Mar 2022

    World Book Day

The OBS mission for teachers was to fill the children's day with lots of book talk and fun and we think they did a brilliant job! From book picnics to illustrator tutorials, it was a fantastic day across school. All of the children chose something comfortable to wear to school and they brought their favourite book too.

    What happened on the day?

In nursery the children brought their best book to school and shared it with a friend. Over in F2 the children met up with year 4 to share some stories in a 'booknic' complete with cakes. In year 1 the children had a book tasting event where they got to try some tasty reads. Year 2 joined the illustrator Axle Sheffler as they illustrated Zog together. In year 3 children created dream jars inspired by the BFG and year 4 illustrated their favourite book cover again. In year 5 there was a fantastic book quiz and year 6 enjoyed more book tasting, especially when there was a spare copy that they could enjoy with a friend.

The day was finished by a visit from a mystery teacher reader which all of the children enjoyed.

  • Ukraine Support Appeal

    Tue 01 Mar 2022

OBS are reaching out to those in our community who would like to help the Ukrainian refugees. You may have items that you no longer need but others could greatly benefit from.

As this is an urgent appeal we are asking for any donations to be bagged and dropped off in the school hall on Friday at home time. We have made links with a charity that is organising a delivery to be sent this Saturday.

    We will be collecting:

CLEAN clothing – all age groups

    CLEAN bedding

    CLEAN towels

    Unopened toiletries

    THANK YOU
