  • Under 11s Football - County Champions

Mon 05 Dec 2022 Mr Hill

On Saturday, the U11s Boys Football Team took part in the County Finals for 7-a-side football having already won the City Finals. Old Basford competed against 5 other teams from across Nottinghamshire, all of whom had won their respective finals. Teams from Gedling, Newark, Cotgrave, Mansfield and Kirkby all took to the field at Sutton Lawn to see who would be crowned Nottinghamshire Champions. After a slow start, Old Basford ground out a 1-0 win in their first game but soon found their feet and won their remaining group games to qualify for the Semi Finals with a 100% record and without conceding a goal. A tough semi-final was won 2-0 meaning only the Newark district champions St Barnaby's stood in the way of victory. Despite a few nervy moments, Old Basford eventually ran out comfortable 5-1 winners to be deservedly crowned Nottinghamshire County Champions. Well done boys!

The team will now represent Nottinghamshire in the regional finals in March or April next year.
