  • Bikeability

    Mon 20 Mar 2023

Year 5 pupils have had the opportunity to take part in Bikeability both level 1 and level 2.  It has been fantastic seeing the children develop their cycling confidence and road safety knowledge through completing the training on school site and out on the roads.  Well done to you all.

  • ATHLETICS GRAND FINAL

Fri 17 Mar 2023 Miss Marrow

On Tuesday, the year 5/6 athletics team travelled to Harvey Hadden to compete in the Grand Final of the indoor athletics tournament. The team had successfully come first in two previous heats and made it through to the Grand Final. The team had to complete a mixture of track events (relay races, hurdles and obstacle courses) and field events (chest push, vertical jump and standing triple jump).

The children were absolutely INCREDIBLE AND CAME FIRST with 255 points. The first time in OBS history that we are in county athletics champions. This is such an incredible achievement and we are all so proud of everyone who took part and who was training ready as a reserve.

    PROUD!!

  • Recognition Time - 17.3.23

    Fri 17 Mar 2023

Another lovely Headteacher recognition Time today.  Only 3 children chosen this week (although we have had 2 strike days), all for very good reasons; not giving up at a sports event, helping during lunchtime and being a great asset to After School club.  We talked about what we like about school and the majority spoke about playtimes being fun, having more freedom and a chance to be with friends.

  • Playtime Fun!

    Tue 14 Mar 2023

Playtimes and lunchtimes continue to be a fun time full of social interactions, active play and new experiences.  The children have reported:

'it is so much better as we can have choice'

'I like playing with the younger children'

'X in Y4 has helped me learn to skip'

    'its more fun!'

  • Great Big Dance Off!

Mon 13 Mar 2023 Mr Balchin

On Monday afternoon 10 year 6 girls travelled to the Albert Hall to take part in the regional heats of the Great Big Dance Off. A dance competition that is open to all schools across England and Wales and their aim is to create an exciting competition that brings children together of all ages and abilities.

With the help of Miss Shannon, Mrs Baguley and Miss Marrow, the girls put together a dance called 'Lionesses' and performed it in front of around 700 people and they were incredible. Well done girls!

  • Year 4 family Science Event

Fri 10 Mar 2023 Mrs Black

    Year 4 Family Science Event

To launch British Science Week in Year 4, Miss McCulloch (our Science Lead) invited all Year 4 parents, carers and children to a family science event on Thursday 9th March. We had a fantastic time learning about how meteorologists predict the weather using a Barometer. We then followed some instructions and worked with our grown ups to create our own Barometers and we are looking forward to using them as the weather changes. Some children were lucky enough to share their Barometers with the rest of the school in Friday's British Science Week assembly. Thank you to all the grown up who came to join in the fun!

  • Recognition Time - 10.3.23

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

Wow, what a lot of children to celebrate with this week!  So many lovely reasons that show how children can go 'above and beyond' each week in our school.  Lots of children today have been recognised by our Midday Supervisors for being helpful in the hall during lunchtimes.  Well done to everyone.

  • Snow Fun - 10.3.23

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

All children were invited out to join in the snow fun at playtime, not all wanted to brave the cold!  We had snow ball fights, built snowmen and enjoyed making footprints in the snow.  What an amazing experience and way to make memories!

  • The Biggest Ever Girls' Football Session

Wed 08 Mar 2023 Miss Stewart

We had a great time taking part in the Biggest Ever Girls' Football Session at lunchtime today. We had over 60 girls on the field at one point and I was amazed by the talent we have here at OBS. Even the snow didn't stop them! Well done girls.
